“When you speak of storytelling, many people relegate it to the nursery. I use storytelling as
an important means of sharing cultures of the world. I use storytelling for all age groups,
regardless of how young or how old they may be.” - Spencer G. Shaw
The University of Washington Information School and community mourns the loss of nationally and internationally known librarian, storyteller, and educator Professor Emeritus Spencer G. Shaw. Spencer passed away on June 16, 2010, at the age of 93.
Jerry Large of the Seattle Times wrote a column on July 29 about Spencer's memorial service and his impact on Seattle. It's a very fitting tribute. You can find it on the Times website, here.
We invite you to learn more about Spencer, and to share your remembrances of a man who touched the lives of many.
